Emerging from a humble background, Kabarole ENR CSO coalition capacity to proactively advocate for improved governance of district Natural Resources has greatly increased. We start to feel the presence of these district foras in the policy advocacy processes of the ENR sub-sector.

On 28th September 2015, members of the coalition signed a petition appealing for better financing of the District Forest Services in Kabarole district. See petition on (link). It was presented to the district speaker on 14th October 2015 and will be presented to the standing committee on production and later tabled to the District Council for consideration.

Kabarole ENR CSO coalition is a loose network of over 25 CSOs with activities contributing towards the growth and development of forestry sector and environment in Kabarole district. It is one of the 5 platforms established in the Albertine Graben by Environmental Alert; the Secretariat of the ENR-CSO Network, under the Forest Project that is funded by CARE international Uganda. These coalitions form part of the structure of the ENR-CSO Network.

In this project Environmental Alert seeks to ensure an evidence based forestry policy advocacy engagement through, ‘Civil society coordination, networking and multi stakeholder collaboration that leads to a more inclusive management of forest resources in the Albertine Rift.

Applauds to everyone who has contributed to this. We wish the best to not only the coalition in Kabarole but to all of

us. See petition
